Celebrating Excellence: Shaw Butte Earns a 'B' as WESD Achieves Major Success!

We are thrilled to share the news that the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) has released its official A-F School Letter Grades for the 2024-2025 school year, and the Washington Elementary School District (WESD) has much to celebrate! The District has earned a remarkable overall "B" letter grade, with an impressive 87% of schools classified as excellent or highly performing.

Shaw Butte Elementary: A Highly Performing School!

Here at Shaw Butte Elementary, we are incredibly proud to announce that we have been designated as a Highly Performing school, earning a "B" letter grade for the 2024-2025 school year! This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and collaborative spirit of our students, teachers, staff, and families. Earning a 'B' reflects strong performance across key academic and growth metrics, and we are committed to building on this success.

WESD District-Wide Highlights

The entire WESD community is shining brightly with these new grades. The results underscore a district-wide commitment to academic growth and student achievement.

  • 11 Schools Earned an "A": The WESD saw a 33% increase in its top-tier schools since the 2018–2019 school year. Congratulations to: Abraham Lincoln Traditional, Acacia, Ironwood, Lakeview, Lookout Mountain, Moon Mountain, Online Learning Academy, Orangewood, Royal Palm Middle School, Sunburst, and Sweetwater.

  • 18 Schools Earned a "B": Shaw Butte is one of 18 schools that received a "B" letter grade, showcasing strong and consistent performance across the district.

  • Significant Improvement: Ten schools improved their letter grade this year, with five schools jumping from a "C" to a "B"—a clear sign that positive momentum is building across the district.

  • No D or F Grades: Importantly, no WESD schools received a "D" or "F" letter grade, demonstrating the district’s dedication to maintaining a high baseline of educational quality for every student.
