Community Canopy Tree Grant

The deadline to register for trees through Shaw Butte Neighborhood Alliance’s 2025 submission passed. Participants were provided placement flags and they were to be in place by Monday, October 13, 2025. The last trees were planted on Thursday, October 30, 2025. If the flags were not placed by then and the resident was not home to direct tree placement, trees were not be planted and the resident voided their tree planting. Also, trees were not planted if the contractors deemed the allotted space unsafe or a threat to underground utilities.

Tree-maintenance bags (e.g., irrigation timer, hose, canvas tote, and t-shirt) were available for pickup through Thursday, October 30, 2025; participants were to email trees@shawbuttephx.org to schedule an appointment.

Tree care and maintenance are the responsibility of the property owner. The Office of Heat Response and Mitigation (OHRM) and SBNA will not provide tree care. OHRM and SBNA provided watering guides and tree details to guide participants in tree care; see the Eligible Native or Drought-Resistant Trees & Characteristics and Next Steps: Trees Are Planted; Now What?.

Note: Qualified residences can apply directly on a rolling basis through the Office Of Heat Response and Mitigation until November 11, 2025 at 11:59 PM.
