Gated Alley Program

The two most common alley-related topics that come up for neighborhoods are alley maintenance and the city’s Gated Alley Program.

The City of Phoenix Gated Alley Program allows for relocating garbage collection curbside and installing locked gates at alley entrances. Residents who live on the alley are provided lock combination codes to maintain their access to the alley.

The petition process for gating an alley requires a signature of approval from 50% +1 residents affected by the gates, and unanimous approval from owners of rear garages which are accessed from the alley.
