This past Saturday, November 8th, saw an incredible turnout of dedicated volunteers for our annual Love Our Schools Day at Shaw Butte Elementary! From 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, teachers and staff, church members, and neighborhood residents rolled up their sleeves to tackle a variety of projects aimed at beautifying the campus.
We were especially grateful for the tremendous support from the incredible volunteer workforce from Redemption North Mountain church and the engaged neighborhood volunteers from the Shaw Butte Neighborhood Alliance. Their commitment helped make this event a huge success!
The energy was infectious, and we made significant progress in just a few short hours!
🌿 A new look for the front planting beds
The most visible transformation was the revitalization of several planting beds near the main gate entrance to campus. The old, thorny rose bushes were successfully removed, making way for beautiful new additions: vibrant Purple Heart plants (Tradescantia pallida). This change not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also reduces maintenance and provides a pop of rich color that will welcome students every day.
✨ More completed projects
In addition to the landscaping, the amazing volunteers completed several other key tasks:
🎨 Sticker Mural: A fun, collaborative sticker mural was installed, adding a touch of personalized art to the campus.
✂️ Grass Edging: The grass areas throughout the campus received a professional-looking edging, making the lawns look neat and crisp.
🗑️ Litter Pickup: Volunteers scoured the campus to pick up litter, ensuring a clean and safe environment for everyone.
💧 Sidewalk Cleaning: Our sidewalks got a thorough cleaning, making the walkways brighter and more inviting.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who donated their time and effort, including our fantastic partners. Your commitment to Shaw Butte Elementary makes a tangible difference in the lives of our community’s students and the appearance of our school. We are truly a community that cares!
