New Block Watch Signs are Here!

Have you noticed something a little sharper on your stroll through the neighborhood lately? We are thrilled to announce that the Shaw Butte Block Watch has officially begun replacing the old, faded, and rusty signs throughout our community!

For years, our original signs stood as sentinels of our collective vigilance. However, time and the relentless Arizona sun had turned many of them into weathered relics—peeling, rusted, and difficult to read. It was time for a refresh that reflects the active, proud community we are today.

Why This Matters

While a sign might seem like a small detail, it serves several vital purposes:

  • Deterrence: Clear, high-visibility signage sends a direct message that Shaw Butte neighbors look out for one another.

  • Community Pride: Replacing "eyesore" signs helps maintain the aesthetic appeal of our streets and property values.

  • Awareness: New signs remind visitors and residents alike that we are an organized, connected neighborhood committed to safety.

Keeping the Momentum Going

This project is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together. A huge thank you to the Phoenix Police Department Neighborhood Block Watch Grant for providing the grant funding that makes this possible.

The installation is currently underway, and you’ll see the rest of the new "Block Watch" signs popping up over the coming weeks. If you see us out there working, feel free to give us a wave!

Get Involved!

The signs are just a symbol—neighborhood residents are the real Block Watch. If you’re interested in learning more about how to get involved, attending a meeting, or simply staying updated on neighborhood safety, join us at our next monthly meeting or email hello@shawbuttephx.org.

Spotted a sign that needs help? If there is a particularly hidden or damaged sign on your specific block that we might have missed, please let us know!
