How it happened
Year: 2024
Advocacy: Shaw Butte Neighborhood Alliance
Researched park amenities available in Cave Creek Park between Cactus & Sweetwater
Met with Parks Dept. staff to identify options for a “quick win” of new park amenities to drive more park use, especially to Cave Creek Park at Cactus which does not offer a playground that would help draw in children and families
Planned & held a ribbon cutting during a Neighborhood Celebration, featuring District 3 City Councilmember Debra Stark
Funding: City of Phoenix Parks & Recreation
Partner Support: Stacia Holmes, City of Phoenix Parks Department Recreation Supervisor; Kate Mase, City of Phoenix Parks Department FitPHX Coordinator; Krista Roy, City of Phoenix Neighborhood Specialist
